Abstract:
The Women4Cyber initiative, backed by the European Cyber Security Organisation, has launched a representative office in Latvia with the dual objectives of showcasing Latvia's cybersecurity prowess and enhancing female participation in this critical sector. This initiative responds to the significant underrepresentation of women in cybersecurity, a field where only 25% of the workforce is female despite the high demand for skilled workers, attractive remuneration, and the flexibility it offers to balance professional and family commitments. Women4Cyber's mission is to foster a collaborative environment for existing female cybersecurity experts, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Additionally, it aims to inspire and recruit new female talent into the field through the organization of educational events and courses covering various cybersecurity domains. By doing so, Women4Cyber not only addresses the gender disparity in this sector but also tackles the broader challenge of the global shortage of cybersecurity professionals and women in leadership positions in this field. The target group for this initiative includes current female professionals in cybersecurity seeking community and professional growth, as well as women interested in pursuing careers in this dynamic and evolving field. Through its concerted efforts, Women4Cyber Latvia seeks to empower women to join and excel in the cybersecurity domain, thereby contributing to a more diverse, skilled, and resilient cybersecurity workforce. This initiative underscores the importance of gender inclusivity in strengthening cybersecurity capabilities and safeguarding digital infrastructures.
