University of Latvia Gender Equality Plan
Literature Item
Author Information:
Abstract:
The aim of the Gender Equality Plan of the University of Latvia (hereinafter - UL) is to ensure equal opportunities for all, and UL is guided by the principles of gender equality in all its activities, without compromising the competence and quality of studies and research. The specific characteristics of the fields of study and research require specific action to address the persistent gender gaps in equal opportunities. There are a number of known structural barriers to gender equality in research and innovation (as well as sexual orientation, nationality, age and other individual characteristics), for a variety of reasons, often based on historical traditions, prejudices and customs. The LU has identified key areas of concern, which were addressed in the 28th European Council of 28 June 2021. The Strategy 2021-2027 were approved by the UL Senate on 27 June 2021, as well as the Gender Equality Policy approved by the UL Ordinance of 27 October 2021
