Abstract:
Czech political scene proves that parties are open to women. The most significant is the electoral system including the size of precincts and rules for granting preferential votes which relates to voter's behavior, participation and order of women on lists of candidates (or their proportion amongst the nominees in case of majority electoral system) and success of each individual political subject in the elections. This gives hope for an increase in their representation in the upper chamber of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. On the last municipal elections, the highest proportion of women were running in the municipal and Senate elections and it menas an increase in their representation not only at the lowest level of decision-making, but also in the upper chamber of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, where the representation of women has been low for a long time.
