  • Abstract:

The project Cooperating to Succeed – Supporting Women's Engagement in Local Politics aims to address and reduce vertical and horizontal gender discrimination at the political level by empowering women to engage more actively in public life. By focusing on enhancing women's competences and motivation, the initiative seeks to foster greater representation of women in city councils and municipal governments, particularly in light of upcoming local elections. Key activities of the project include: Analysis of Barriers: Identifying obstacles and understanding the specific needs of women in local politics through in-depth research and interviews. Strategic Handbook: Developing and disseminating a strategic document for political parties and movements, providing them with actionable recommendations to support gender equality in political participation. Educational Programs: Designing and implementing innovative educational programs that provide women with the skills and knowledge necessary to run for office and excel in public leadership roles. Mentoring Program: Launching a mentoring initiative to connect women candidates with experienced political figures who can guide and support them throughout their political journey. Networking Events: Organizing networking meetings that foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among women leaders, political candidates, and activists. Awareness-Raising Campaign: Running a broad public awareness campaign to highlight the importance of gender equality in politics and to encourage more women to participate in local elections. This project plays a crucial role in breaking down the structural barriers that prevent women from taking leadership roles in local politics, while also contributing to a more diverse and inclusive political landscape.
