The Regional Gender Equality Monitor
Literature Item
Author Information:
Abstract:
The publication is a report that presents a composite indicator of gender equality at the regional level in the European Union (EU). The EU regional gender equality monitor is the first to capture aspects of gender equality at the regional level for almost all EU NUTS2 regions. The report analyzes women's full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public lifeThe report aims to provide a comprehensive picture of gender equality at the regional level and to support policy makers in designing and implementing policies that promote gender equality. The report presents two indices that assess the level of female disadvantage by measuring if women are doing worse than men in the same region. The best score is 0 (no disadvantage) and the worst is 100 (largest disadvantage). These two indices are the first to capture aspects of gender equality at the regional level for all EU regions.
