The National Council for Combating Discrimination (Consiliul Naţional pentru Combaterea Discriminarii - CNCD)
Best Practice
Promoter Information:
Abstract:
It is the independent equality body in charge of promoting equal treatment of all persons and ensuring there is no discrimination on the grounds of sex. This is related to all the power domains, but more focused in the social one, because it wants to prevent the discrimination in all the areas. It is a good practice, because one of the biggest problem women have to access to responsability and power positions are the different type of discriminations they usually find on their way. The Council has responsibilities vis-à-vis the prevention, mediation, investigation and sanctioning of discriminatory actions. The CNCD guarantees compliance and application of the principle of non-discrimination on the grounds of race, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, social status, beliefs, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, and non-contagious chronic diseases, HIV status, and belonging to a disadvantaged group.
