Abstract:
The Participo! - Women's Civic and Political Participation has as its main objectives to promote the increase in the rates of political and civic participation of women and girls in the parishes of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde, to promote a greater involvement of women who already participate in local political and civic life and wish to increase their levels of responsibility, to raise awareness of gender equality and opportunities and create tools to facilitate political and civic participation at the local level. The main activities of the project include: creation of a working group for reflection and debate on the political and civic participation of women and girls; development of a digital platform for the promotion of political and civic participation (pilot project); the production of the Theatre of the Oppressed: simulation of parish assemblies (education for citizenship and participation); Empowerment actions based on the Personal Storytelling methodology; Empowerment and Mentoring Program for Women and Girls: Intensive citizenship education academies for young people; Advanced training course for women in B-learning format; Creation of a Local Women's Network of mutual help and mentoring to increase participation; Holding a TEDxPorto Salon event (based on the fishbowl methodology), The target group was women and girls of the Municipality of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde. Integrating the main outputs, it can be considered; Mapping of Obstacles to women's civic and political participation and in a second phase a Proposal for solutions for women's civic and political participation; an Intermediate Forum and a Final Forum were promoted for debate, and a document was created which includes a Guide and disclosure of opportunities and participation mechanism; The total cost of the Participo! Program was of 240.019€, with a financement of EEA Grants.
