    Established in 2002, Women’s Collective Ireland (WCI) is a national organisation that works directly with and represents the interests of grassroots women from communities in rural and urban settings throughout Ireland. n 2022, it was officially launched a new name, visual identity, and strategic plan – going forward as “Women’s Collective Ireland”, and it is now funded under the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth. Women’s Collective Ireland supports grassroots women through women’s community development locally and nationally. Women’s Collective Ireland’s work on the ground is central and fundamental. The national work derives from and advances the work of the community development projects supporting grassroots women’s empowerment. The Women’s Collective 17 local Projects are best placed to identify and respond to the specific needs of grassroots women in their communities and each of them have developed a unique programme of work with women. Included in the main activities developed are, namely: the Promotion of women’s equality, community leadership and empowerment; the Networking and representation of women at local, regional, national and international levels. One of the projects - Women’s Collective Ireland – Donegal - advocates for equal representation in Irish politics.
