Abstract:

It seeks to give society a legal framework that allows it to take a further step towards full equality, this royal decree-law contains 7 articles that correspond to the modification of seven norms with the force of law that directly affect equality between women and men. This is related to economic power of women, but affecting to the social and political power too. It wants to regulate work and family reconciliation so that women have the opportunity to grow professionally and be able to access greater purchasing power and quality of life. For example: Article 1 essentially intends to extend the requirement of drafting equality plans to companies with fifty or more workers, creating the obligation to register them in the registry that will be carried out according to the regulations. Articles 2 and 3 of this Royal Decree-Law equate, in their respective fields of application, the duration of leave for the birth of a son or daughter of both parents. This equalization responds to the existence of a clear will and social demand. Article 4 contemplates the adaptation of the Social Security regulations to the measures provided for in labor regulations, redefining the benefits in light of the new rights. Similarly, a new benefit is created for the jointly responsible exercise of infant care in accordance with the innovations introduced both in the Workers' Statute and in the Basic Statute of Public Employees. Article 5 is related to the Support Fund for the promotion and development of infrastructures and services of the Autonomy and Dependency Care System and Social Services. Articles 6 and 7, as already indicated, modify the revised text of the Law on Offenses and Sanctions in the Social Order.
