Abstract:
These practices, promoted by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), are targeted to women/female talents interested in leadership thus promoting their social power in the field of sports. Leadership Talent Camps were addressed to women who were either interested in a leadership position or who had filled a leadership position recently. Numerous workshops were held during the camp regarding developing competencies in communication and negotiation, public speaking, conflict management. A team of successful women from industry, science, politics and sport management assist and support the participants in further improving leadership skills and in building a supportive network. The Mentoring program “As a mixed double to the top” was first established in 2012. It addresses young former female athletes (called Mentees), who are interested in leading positions within sports organisations. It aims at supporting these young women to achieve their goals and to provide them with practical skills and benefits for their professional, private and public life. The mentors involved in the program, both male and female, are successful and experienced leaders in sports organisations. Team of Experts: The DOSB offers systematic guidance to its member associations through this process, including professional advice and support from a female team of experts from sports, politics and sciences. The aim of this initiative is to help associations to implement the task and at the same time use coaching activities to motivate women even further, and to give them the confidence to take the road to the top. Estimated budgetary requirements: Camp: 10 to 20 participants, about 3,000 € per camp (2-days activity); Mentoring program: about 20-25 participants, about 20,000–30,000 € (1-year activity); Expert team: four consultations per year, about 4,000 € per consultation.
