Abstract:
The study conducted by the Greek association Family and Childcare Center in Greece (KMOP) approaches the sphere of political power by examining the position of women in politics across the European Union (EU), particularly in Greece. The study aimed to analyze the situation of women's representation in politics and identify best practices and strategies for promoting gender equality in political decision-making processes. The study found that women are significantly underrepresented in political decision-making roles across the EU and identified several barriers to women's political participation, including cultural and societal norms, a lack of access to resources and networks, and gender bias in the media and political institutions. To address these barriers, the study recommended several strategies and best practices, including the adoption of gender quotas, the promotion of women's leadership and empowerment, and the provision of training and support for women interested in politics. The study also highlighted the importance of addressing the root causes of gender inequality in politics, including gender stereotypes and biases, and the need for broader societal and cultural change.
