Abstract:
Women in Film and Television Cyprus (WIFT CY) was established in 2017 to promote the representation of women in social power, specifically, by promoting and supporting women in the film, television, and media industries in Cyprus. Thus, the main objective of WIFT CY is to increase the representation of women in the film and television industries, both on-screen and behind the camera. WIFT CY is part of a global network of Women in Film and Television organizations, which includes over 50 chapters worldwide. The organization is open to women working in all aspects of the film, television, and media industries in Cyprus, including producers, directors, screenwriters, editors, actors, and other professionals. The organization works to create a supportive community for women working in these industries and provides networking, mentoring, and training opportunities to help women advance their careers. Some of the specific activities and initiatives include: Hosting events and screenings that showcase the work of women filmmakers and promote gender equality in the industry; providing mentorship and coaching to women who are starting or advancing their careers in the film and television industries; offering training and education programs to help women develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in these industries; advocating for gender equality and fair representation of women in the film and television industries in Cyprus. As it is a non-profit organization, WIFT CY relies on various sources of funding to support its activities and initiatives. One of the primary sources of funding is membership fees. It also receives funding from various sponsors, partners, and donors, such as government agencies, private companies, foundations, and other organizations that share WIFT CY's mission and values and want to support its work.
