Abstract:
The research presents a mixed situation. Equal access between women and men is not a reality for all electoral mandates and elective functions: - In the absence of legal constraint, men are in the majority among mayors, presidents of departmental and regional councils or presidents of inter-community. - In the presence of legal inducements, such as financial deductions for no-shows of joint candidacies in the legislative elections, the results are inconclusive. - In the presence of legal constraints, women represent about half of the elected officials, such as within the municipal councils of municipalities with 1,000 or more inhabitants or in the regional councils.
