Abstract:
This aims to promote the representation of women in social power by encouraging the participation of women in peacebuilding and conflict prevention. The plan is part of Germany's commitment to the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, which is an international framework that aims to ensure the equal participation of women in all aspects of peace and security. It is targeted to women and girls affected by conflict and violence, as well as women and girls who are active in peacebuilding and conflict prevention. In addition, it also targets other groups, including men and boys, civil society organizations and government agencies and institutions (e.g., the military, police, and diplomatic corps). The Plan has three main objectives: Strengthening the participation and leadership of women in peace and security processes; Protecting and empowering women and girls in conflict situations; and integrating a gender perspective into all aspects of German foreign and security policy. To achieve these objectives, the Plan sets out a range of specific measures, including: Increasing the number of women in leadership positions in the German military and police forces; Supporting the participation of women in peace negotiations and mediation processes; Providing training on gender-sensitive conflict analysis for German diplomats and development workers; Providing funding for gender-sensitive humanitarian assistance in conflict situations; and Supporting women's civil society organizations that work on peace and security issues. Fundings are assured by The German Federal Government, and also the European Union, the United Nations, and private foundations.
