Abstract:
This is a German government-led initiative launched in 2014, in collaboration with business leaders and other organizations, which aims to address the under-representation of women in leadership roles in Germany and to promote equal opportunities for men and women, including in top management positions, thus enhancing their economic power. Business executives as well as leaders from scientific institutions, academia, social services, the public sector, and the media are giving new impetus for cultural change in Germany’s top tier. It focuses on three areas: Mentoring programs; coaching programs, and networking opportunities. Chefsache has been successful in raising awareness about the under-representation of women in leadership positions in Germany, and helped to create a culture of support for women who want to advance their careers, providing them tools to succeed in leadership roles. Chefsache has also published several reports on the status of women in leadership in Germany, which provide data on the representation of women in different sectors and industries, and offer recommendations for how to increase the number of women in leadership roles. Chefsache is primarily funded by private companies and organizations in Germany, and by the government.
