Abstract:
Activity: The number of women in the Polish Parliament is constantly increasing. Women won 27% of all parliamentary seats, ie 125. Although the situation is not ideal, it is a big improvement compared to 24% in the previous elections. The reason for this success is largely due to the so-called the quota law passed in Poland in 2011. In the parliamentary elections in 2007 (the last before quotas were introduced), women won only 21% of seats in the Sejm. According to the Quota Act, in order for the electoral list to be registered, it must include at least 35% of women and 35% of men. The law speaks of both sexes, not women, but men on the lists have never been in the minority, just as women have never been in the majority.
