Abstract:
The National Science Center has adopted the Gender Equality Plan for 2022-2025. The aim- the document contains a diagnosis of the current state and planned activities of the National Science Center in the field of supporting gender equality. The Gender Equality Plan is a set of actions aimed at promoting gender equality in research and innovation organisations.The goals of NCN as an employer include a pledge to include information about employee gender in its activity reports and improve gender balance in the recruitment process. Activity - The mission of the National Science Center (NCN), as an executive agency established to support research is to improve the quality and effectiveness of research through a competitive system awarding grants and acting to increase the importance of Polish science in the arena international. This mission is carried out through funding through project competitions research and scientific activities. The NCN has met the requirements for effective gender equality plans by: • involving a wide group of NCN employees and NCN Council members in the development and implementation of the Plan, • designing tailored solutions, especially to support the principle of gender equality in basic research funding, which respect its mission, goals, tasks and context, • focusing not only on procedural and institutional solutions but also areas of implicit bias, as well as shaping attitudes by improving the knowledge about gender equality. Target group - The NCN offer includes competitions addressed to researchers at at every stage of their career, regardless of age, seniority and the center in which they work. Target group - General public in the broadest sense, NCN applicants, Expert reviewers, applicants. The research-funding measures proposed under the GEP will involve, for instance, including gender equality aspects in the proposal application form and raising the awareness of the importance of the various equality issues involved in setting up NCN expert teams, presenting the NCN Award and implementing NCN’s information and promotion campaigns. Outputs - Recognizing diversity of points of view and experience for values supporting the development of science, the NCN with its own practices attracts researchers representing various social groups and actively supports them gender equality in Polish academic centers and participates in international ones initiatives in this regard.
