  • Abstract:

At Johnson & Johnson, the Women's Leadership & Inclusion (WLI) team is committed to Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) on Gender Equality SDG 5 by fostering an inclusive organization where each individual, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to grow personally and professionally. The WLI team works tirelessly to create a gender-equal work environment through various programs and networking events designed to help women build successful careers. One notable initiative is the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Ambassador’s program, a one-year self-directed leadership program open to all employees. This program aims to cultivate an inclusive mindset, encouraging every colleague to recognize the value of and actively contribute to a gender-diverse workplace where everyone feels at home. One of the key activities is "Inclusive Leadership Week," which aligns with the theme of International Women’s Day, 'Choose to Challenge.' This week features inspiring sessions and workshops on female leadership and addresses the reinforcing impact of the pandemic on traditional gender roles, highlighting the increased time women spend on caregiving tasks. In response, Johnson & Johnson has implemented a unique flexible parental leave policy, allowing both parents to spend more time with their newborns, further enhancing women's positions in the workplace. Beyond internal efforts, WLI is committed to external initiatives in Belgium and the Netherlands, aligning with the global J&J WiSTEM2D (Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing, and Design) goals. In Belgium, WLI launched the 'Da’s geniaal' collective in collaboration with other companies to spark interest in STEM studies and careers, particularly among young girls. In the Netherlands, WLI organizes Girls Day, introducing girls to STEM topics such as technology and IT. Through these initiatives, Johnson & Johnson demonstrates a steadfast commitment to gender equality, both within the organization and in the broader community, championing the empowerment of women and girls in alignment with SDG 5.
